Phil and Lem embark on a quest to gain respect around the office, Veronica goes on a reluctant treasure hunt inside the Veridian building, and Ted has to confront rumours of staff favouritism.

Veronica is suspicious that Ted might be using his daughter to bond with the boss in an effort to advance his career. Meanwhile, Phil and Lem tentatively start a friendship with Linda.

Ted helps his brother land a job as a salesman for a company that supplies Veridian with lab equipment, which has consequences for Phil and Lem. Meanwhile, Veronica receives an award from a charity for girls.

Ted romances a beautiful German executive who can't speak a word of English. It doesn't matter Veridian is developing a translation device for her company, enabling the two to communicate. The problem is, the voice of the device is Phil's, which ruins the mood for Ted.

Ted goes head-to-head with Pete, the leader of the Veridian's other development team, when they both are assigned to develop a magnetic levitation belt. Ted wants to take the high road, but Pete has no such concerns... and neither does Veronica. Meanwhile, Phil and Lem break the lab thermostat, but can't admit it without being penalized by the company.

Veridian sends out a memo to the employees about inappropriate behavior, but a typo demands that they now use offensive language. Ted tries to convince Veronica to resolve the issue, but it comes a little too late as the insults are already underway. When she realizes the power of a memo typo, Veronica wonders if her promotion memo was intended for W. Palmer. Meanwhile, Linda tells Ted to loosen up, and Lem helps Phil to insult people.

Ted has to deal with Ryan, an overly talkative security guard who won't leave Ted alone. Meanwhile, Phil and Lem are forced to work with Veronica directly for the first time, and Linda tries to befriend a co-worker who thinks she's needy.

After an employee drops dead during a sleep system project on a tight deadline, Veridian uses his sacrifice to push everyone else to work harder. Ted objects when he realizes they're going to be working 14-hour days even after the current project wraps up. Linda decides to live in the moment, and Lem discovers that everyone thinks he was a friend of the dead man and decides to enjoy the attention.

Cubicle worker Sheila mistakes Linda's comforting hug as sexual harassment, and files a lawsuit. When Ted tries to explain, things go badly and Sheila accuses him of sexual harassment as well. Veronica convinces the company to identify sexual harassment as a disease, but Ted and Linda refuse to be "treated." Meanwhile, Phil and Lem discover that retired robots are not sent to Veridian's "robot farm," and try to save a longtime working associate.

Ted reluctantly gets involved when Veronica loses sleep because of her boyfriend Mordor's energetic sex drive. Meanwhile, Lem gets a unique red lab coat and he and Phil try to puzzle out what it means... unaware that it means nothing.

Lem flips out when his mother, a brilliant scientist who has always intimidated him, comes to visit and begins an affair with Dr. Bhamba. Meanwhile, Ted gets miffed when Linda suddenly gets all the credit after she makes a suggestion to improve on his prize project, a light bulb that burns forever.

When a wave of layoff hits Veridian and little Rose seems to have inside info because of a friend in her Hive playgroup, Veronica tries to pump her for information, much to Ted's disapproval. Meanwhile, Linda is elated to sell her first children's book -- until someone points out that her lead character, a lemur, is the spitting image of Phil -- and Lem starts a passionate affair with one of the company lawyers, only to find out that his paycheck is being docked for the "billable hours" he's spending with his new girlfriend,

Veridian Dynamics tries matchmaking employees based on their genetic compatibility in hopes of saving on health insurance bills from imperfectly bred children. Ted and Linda balk at this until they meet their supposed matches -- Greg for Linda and Danielle for Ted -- and are instantly attracted despite themselves. Meanwhile, after Veronica finds out Lem is her perfect genetic match, she hounds him to make a donation to a sperm bank
