A councilman becomes a suspect after Goren and Eames discover that the murder of his stepdaughter's boyfriend may relate to blackmail plots they'd begun. The investigation slows down when the family closes ranks, and the only way to make an arrest is to outwit the councilman's mother, who will forgive anything in her quest for political power.
